It isn't a bad show at all but the only thing it has in common with the book is that the main character from Jumper had a daughter (I presume it is him, even though he isn't even in this, unless the short clip at the beginning is meant to be him)

It is a complete rewrite of the book, they threw the original away and made up their own story, so if you liked the movie Jumper then you may also like this.
I think I've seen 99% of all mutant/comic book/super hero series and movies.

I think The Dark Knight Trilogy and Watchmen are the best comic-book movies adaptation. The rest are mainly either stupid and/or try too hard to be funny.

Mutant/comic-book series usually also stupid. The characters usually do really stupid things. These stupid series include Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, The Gifted, Black Lightening, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and probably a lot more I can't recall now.

Daredevil S01 and S02 were pretty good.

Punisher S01 was not as good as DD, but still better than most comic-book series.

You Tube's "Impulse" is quite different than the usual mutant series because the main focus isn't on mutants powers or some stupid actions.

The main focus is about the characters and how they deal with these powers and how they interact with each other. It's about character development. Wow. What a concept - character development!

It's like "Cobra Kai" (also from You Tube) isn't so much about karate or the Karate Kid, but rather about character development and how these characters interact with each other.

It's like how "The Walking Dead" (AMC) isn't so much about the Zombies, but rather about character development and interactions.

In "Impulse" We know that our protagonist has this teleportation ability. She is new and still isn't able to control her ability yet. But she seems to be getting a little better gradually. Again, the joy is seeing her character develop and seeing how all her family and friends develop and deal with the problems. It makes you care about the characters. It makes you vested in the characters and cheer for them.

Mutant powers can be cool. Sure. But who cares about it if we can't stand the characters and hope they all die?

If you suddenly had mutant powers for the first time, how would you deal with it? Certainly not like 99% of all these stupid mutant series.

You would deal with it realistically like in "Impulse".

We feel sorry for main mutant girl. We root for her.

And that's how shows should be like - character driven regardless of genre.
