Harry attends a party where he reunites with childhood friend Harmony Faith Lane, who is acting in Beer commercials and wants to make it to the big time and act in Hollywood movies and Harry also meets gay private detective Perry Van Shrike. When Perry discovers a dead body and Harmony's sister commits suicide, Perry decides to involve Harry in the investigation and Harry decides to play along and pretend he is a detective. Investigating the case, Harry and Perry become suspicious of the party guests who have all become suspects, as Harry and Perry set out to uncover the murderer's identity, Harry finds himself falling in love with Harmony. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was one of the best films I've seen in a long time it was entertaining, smart, and funny and it also had great style. I was held captive to it consistently and found that the ride was never-ending, Shane I believe has done it again, movies are about entertainment and I was most definitely thoroughly entertained, the entire audience was kept laughing throughout, and you want to catch every witty comment and reference most of all the dynamics between the characters of Perry and Harold is intelligent and comical without feeling like you are being sold something false. Outrageous situations that without a bat of an eyelash were pulled off without seeming forced, most of all, Harold/Downey was a joy to watch. Fun movie, I highly recommend subjecting your-self to a great time by going to see it! If you enjoy watching movies, you have undoubtedly seen how Hollywood tries to tell the same story over and over again. This time however, something is different. The actors really seem to be enjoying themselves and are interacting well with one another. The story itself isn't so predictable and just when you've got it figured out, you're wrong.<br/><br/>Kilmer and Downey could write a book on how to create "on the set" magic. You really get the impression that these guys like each other and neither one is worried about playing second fiddle. Rarely do I watch a movie more than once but I've seen this 3 times now and would love to see it again. The first 30 minutes might seem slow but it all comes together and makes sense.<br/><br/>Sure, there are more than a few scenes that aren't believable but you will find yourself wrapped up in these characters and hoping the best for them. I would love to see these guys together in the future! Not a spoiler but make sure to listen for Downey singing in the closing credits. Quite a talented guy and he better stay clean!!! Clueless thief Harry Lockett (Robert Downey Jr.) runs into an audition for a detective movie audition, when he is pursued by the police, when an attempted toy store robbery goes wrong, which his partner is shot and killed. Harry, mistaken for an actor auditioning for a role in the film, unwittingly wins a role in the film and is invited to attend a Christmas party hosted by former actor Harlan Dexter (Corbin Bernsen). At the party, Harry meets tough private detective Gay Perry (Val Kilmer) and reunites with aspiring actress Harmony Faith Lane (Michelle Monaghan), whom was Harry's childhood friend. As Gay Perry teaches Harry lessons on being a detective to prepare him for when the film begins production. Harry soon finds himself caught up in a murder mystery, when Dexter's estranged daughter Veronica is murdered, which soon becomes complicated, when Harmony's sexually abused sister Jenna commits suicide and Harmony asks Harry to investigate. Suspecting that Veronica Dexter's murder and Jenna Lane's suicide are somewhat connected and that Jenna's death was no suicide, but murder. Harry and Gay Perry supported by Harmony set out to uncover the truth behind the murder of Veronica Dexter and the death of Jenna Lane and the pair begin to suspect that one of the party guests could be the murderer and they uncover a conspiracy behind the murder case.
